Kabir y Ravidas
byKabir

Extensive doctrinal compilations in which Kabir appears as the incarnation of Truth (*Sat Purush*) revealing to Dharamdas a cosmogony and the path of salvation for souls. They underpin the theology of the branches of the Kabir Panth that venerate Kabir as a divinity, and show how the figure of the iconoclastic weaver was transformed into the object of worship of an organised sect.

Authorship note

Texts of the Dharamdasi branch of the Kabir Panth ascribed to Kabir in the form of dialogues with his disciple Dharamdas. They are much later than Kabir and reflect the sectarian theology of the Panth; scholarship does not regard them as his. Something similar applies to the ascribed verses gathered in Garib Das's *Satguru Granth Sahib* (18th century).
