Kabir y Ravidas
byKabir

Since the second half of the twentieth century specialists have replaced Tagore's Kabir with versions based on the manuscripts: Charlotte Vaudeville, the great French philologist of Kabir, published *Au cabaret de l'amour* (1959) and *A Weaver Named Kabir* (1993); Vinay Dharwadker, *The Weaver's Songs* (2003); and the poet Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, *Songs of Kabir* (2011), praised for restoring the fierce, improvisational energy of the originals. They are the recommended editions for reading Kabir in translation.

Authorship note

Selections translated directly from the three textual traditions (Bijak, Dadupanthi and Sikh), on philological principles; they are not new works by Kabir but editions of his corpus, recorded together for the reader's convenience.
