La asamblea de las aves
byAttar

A masnavi of Shi'ite devotion, with a eulogy of Ali as 'king of the saints' after that of the Prophet, composed by the Attar of Tun in the fifteenth century. It deliberately imitates the opening of the *Mantiq al-tayr*. Its ascription to Farid al-Din led Ritter to imagine a conversion of the poet to Shi'ism in old age.

Authorship note

Apocryphal. From Ritter's 'third group', of Shi'ite devotion centred on Ali: Sa'id Nafisi (1941) proved it is the work of another Attar, a native of Tun, who lived in Mashhad some two hundred and fifty years after Farid al-Din.
