Commentaries on Living
Short prose pieces combining the description of a landscape (an Indian river, a California wood) with a conversation with someone who comes with a problem: a politician, a grieving mother, a sannyasi, an ambitious man. The dialogue gradually dismantles the initial question. It is his most literary work and the one that best shows the method of joint inquiry; many readers consider it the best introduction to his tone.
