The Immortal Friend
A long free-verse poem written in the Ommen and Ojai years, in which the 'Beloved' and the 'Friend' name a formless reality with which the poet claims to have become one. Together with The Search and other poems of the period, it documents the passage from Theosophical devotional imagery to the denial of all mediation he would voice in 1929.
