Symphony of the Harmony of Celestial Revelations

Symphonia armonie celestium revelationum

Hildegarda recibe la visión y la dicta a Volmar (Scivias de Rupertsberg)
byHildegard of Bingen

Antiphons, responsories, sequences and hymns for the Virgin, the Holy Spirit, the saints of her land (Rupert, Disibod), the virgins and, above all, Saint Ursula. The poetry is free, without rhyme or regular metre, full of images of greenness, light and water ('O nobilissima viriditas', 'O vis aeternitatis', 'Caritas abundat in omnia'); the music, of wide range and long melismas, is the largest collection of monophonic chant by an identified author in the Middle Ages. Since the recordings by Sequentia (1982) and Gothic Voices (1982) it has been part of the repertoire.
