Ennead V.1 [10]: On the three primary hypostases

Περὶ τῶν τριῶν ἀρχικῶν ὑποστάσεων

Cabeza de mármol identificada con Plotino (Ostia, inv. 436)
byPlotinus

A programmatic exposition of his system. It opens with the question why souls have forgotten their father, God, and answers with their audacity (tolma) and their desire to belong to themselves. It invites the reader to recall the soul's dignity and presents the One, Intellect and Soul, relying on Plato's Parmenides and Second Letter and on earlier philosophers.
