Life of Plotinus (by Porphyry)
Περὶ τοῦ Πλωτίνου βίου καὶ τῆς τάξεως τῶν βιβλίων αὐτοῦ

"On the life of Plotinus and the arrangement of his books", written around 301, when Porphyry was sixty-eight. It narrates the Alexandrian youth, the Persian expedition, the school in Rome, the circle of pupils, the Platonopolis project, the mystical unions and the death in Campania; it transcribes Apollo's oracle on Plotinus' soul and gives the chronological list of the treatises with their distribution into enneads. It is one of the richest biographies of philosophers from antiquity.
No edition of this work is currently on sale in a store we have been able to verify.
Authorship note
A work by Porphyry of Tyre (c. 234–c. 305), not by Plotinus. It is recorded because it is the main source for his life and forms part of the edition of the Enneads, to which it serves as preface.
