Quatrains (Ruba'iyat)
رباعیات (Ruba'iyat)

Four-line compositions, the short form of Persian lyric, condensing a paradox or a moment of spiritual intoxication. They are often published as a separate book. It is the area where the authentic has most been mixed with the attributed: the famous "Come, come, whoever you are" is one of those wandering quatrains.

Authorship note
They form part of the *Divan-e Shams* (about 1,990 in Foruzanfar's edition), but their authenticity is the least secure in the whole corpus: many "Rumi" quatrains circulated earlier under other names.
