Sidh Gosht (Dialogue with the Siddhas)

ਸਿਧ ਗੋਸਟਿ

Guru Nanak en un mural del gurdwara Baba Atal Rai
byGuru Nanak

A poem of seventy-three stanzas in raga Ramkali, in the form of a dialogue between Nanak and the Nath yogis, whom tradition places at Achal Batala or on Mount Sumeru. The yogis ask who he is, where he comes from, why he does not renounce the world; Nanak replies that true yoga is to live in the world without being stained, through the guru's Word (shabad) and remembrance of the Name. It sets out the Sikh critique of asceticism.
