Confucius
The Ten Wings of the Book of Changes
Traditional attribution
The Ten Wings of the Book of Changes
易傳 (十翼)

Philosophical commentaries—the Great Treatise (Xici), the Commentaries on the Images and Judgements, etc.—which turn a divination manual into a cosmology of change based on yin and yang. The attribution to Confucius integrated the Yijing into the Confucian canon and gave it its enormous later authority.

Authorship note
The seven treatises in ten parts accompanying the Yijing were attributed to Confucius from Han times. Ouyang Xiu (11th c.) already denied it; today they are dated between the 4th and 2nd centuries BCE and regarded as the work of late Confucian schools.
