Vasiṣṭha Siddhānta (astronomical system)
Traditional attribution
Vasiṣṭha Siddhānta (astronomical system)
वसिष्ठसिद्धान्त (Vasiṣṭhasiddhānta)

A system of astronomical computation known only through Varāhamihira's summary, which counts it among the five siddhāntas of his time alongside those of Pauliśa, Romaka, Sūrya and Paitāmaha. It shows the reach of Vasiṣṭha's name, which came to vouch for the science of the stars as well.

Authorship note
One of the five astronomical systems that Varāhamihira summarises in his Pañcasiddhāntikā (6th c.); the original does not survive. The attribution to Vasiṣṭha is traditional.
