Pythagoras zugeschrieben

«All is number.»

Falsch zugeschrieben

Urteil

Es steht nicht im Werk von Pythagoras

The formula appears in no ancient source as a saying of Pythagoras. It summarises Aristotle's account of the doctrine of "the so-called Pythagoreans" (Metaphysics A 5–6), according to which things are numbers or imitate numbers; the thesis probably comes from Philolaus, not from the founder.

Quelle: Aristóteles. Metafísica A 5, 985b23–986b8, y fragmentos de Sobre los pitagóricos (ed. W. D. Ross, Fragmenta selecta, Oxford, 1955). Trad. inglesa de W. D. Ross (1908; Internet Classics Archive, MIT); trad. española de Patricio de Azcárate (Madrid, 1875).
