Ennead II.3 [52]: Whether the stars are causes — Plotinus

Written work

Ennead II.3 [52]: Whether the stars are causes

Εἰ ποιεῖ τὰ ἄστρα

Cabeza de mármol identificada con Plotino (Ostia, inv. 436)
byPlotinus

A critique of the astrology that attributes good or evil wills to the planets and makes them the cause of human events. The stars do not cause but signify, like letters written in the sky that the wise can read; everything is bound together by cosmic sympathy, but moral responsibility belongs to the soul.
