On the Appropriate (Duty)
Περὶ τοῦ καθήκοντος

A lost treatise. Diogenes Laertius (VII 25, 108) says that Zeno was the first to use the word kathekon, the appropriate or due, the action that has a reasonable justification, and that he wrote a book about it. The notion, rendered by Cicero as officium, passed into De officiis and the whole Western ethics of duty.
