Bhagavad Gītā (The Song of the Lord)

भगवद्गीता (Bhagavadgītā)

Vyāsa y sus discípulos ven llegar a Śuka (Razmnāma)
byVyasa

A dialogue of seven hundred stanzas in eighteen cantos between the warrior Arjuna, who refuses to fight his kinsmen, and Kṛṣṇa, his charioteer, who teaches him to act without attachment to the fruit of action, sets out the paths of knowledge, action and devotion and reveals himself to him in his universal form. It is the most commented text of Hinduism —by Śaṅkara, Rāmānuja, Madhva and so many others— and the most widely read outside India.

Authorship note

Part of the Bhīṣmaparvan of the Mahābhārata; tradition ascribes it to Vyāsa as compiler of the poem and puts its words in Kṛṣṇa's mouth. Its date is debated (between the third century BCE and the second CE according to most authors); some regard it as an interpolation in the epic.
