Lectures delivered at American universities in 1951 on the relation between religion and philosophy. The modern age lives through an "eclipse" of God: not his death, but something interposed between man and Him. It debates Heidegger, Sartre and C. G. Jung, and the German volume includes the polemical exchange with the latter.
