Twelve chapters inviting to the inner life: that the kingdom of God is within, familiarity with Jesus, purity of intention, gratitude for grace, the few who love the cross. It culminates in the chapter 'Of the royal way of the holy cross': if you carry the cross willingly, it will carry you.
