Kapila, Founder of Sāṃkhya and Avatāra of Viṣṇu (Knut A. Jacobsen)
Kapila, Founder of Sāṃkhya and Avatāra of Viṣṇu

The only monograph devoted entirely to the figure of Kapila. It gathers the Vedic, epic, Purāṇic, Jain and Buddhist sources, follows the transformation of the teacher of Sāṃkhya into an avatar of Viṣṇu and studies the places of worship and pilgrimage associated with his name. It includes a translation of the Kapilāsurisaṃvāda from the Mahābhārata.
