Classical Sāṃkhya (Gerald James Larson)
Classical Sāṃkhya

A standard work on the history of Sāṃkhya: it distinguishes its phases (Vedic and Upaniṣadic speculation, epic Sāṃkhya, the classical Sāṃkhya of the Kārikā) and offers an interpretation of the system as a reflection on consciousness and experience. It contains the text and translation of the Sāṃkhya Kārikā and critically discusses the figure of Kapila.
