The Garden in Winter

Сад во время зимы

Retrato de Ignati Brianchanínov
byIgnatius Brianchaninov

A prose poem from his youth, written during the novitiate: the garden asleep under the snow, which seems dead and will revive in spring, becomes an image of the resurrection of the dead and of his own soul. Florensky cites it as an example of the Christian feeling for nature.
