On Wealth

Περὶ πλούτου

Mosaico de Diógenes (Colonia)
byDiogenes of Sinope

A title known only from Diogenes Laertius' list. The critique of wealth and of the love of money, "mother-city of all evils" according to a saying Laertius attributes to him (VI 50), is one of Cynicism's constant themes, but no fragment of this work survives.

Authorship note

Lost work. Only the title survives, transmitted by Diogenes Laertius (VI 80). Sosicrates and Satyrus denied that Diogenes wrote anything, and Sotion gave a different list; authorship is therefore uncertain.
