The 1934 essay that gives the volume its title, written at Bruno de Solages's request, sets out his faith in the world, in spirit, in immortality and in personality, and then in Christ. The volume includes 'Christology and Evolution', 'The God of Evolution' and 'My Litanies'.

Authorship note
Volume X of the Œuvres de Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (Seuil, 1969), a posthumous edition prepared by the publication committee assembled by Jeanne Mortier, the holder of his manuscripts. It gathers essays from 1920 to 1955, including the notes on original sin of 1920–1922 that led to his removal.
