What Is Man?
Das Problem des Menschen (Be'ayat ha-adam)
Buber's inaugural course at the Hebrew University (1938), published first in Hebrew (1942) and in German in 1948. It traces the history of philosophical anthropology (Aristotle, Augustine, Kant, Hegel, Marx, Feuerbach, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Scheler) and proposes locating the essence of man in the relation between person and person.
