Traditional attribution
The dialogue of Yājñavalkya and Janaka in the Mahābhārata
याज्ञवल्क्यजनकसंवाद (Mahābhārata, Śāntiparvan 12.298 y ss.)

King Janaka (Daivarāti) questions Yājñavalkya about the principles of nature, the guṇas, the creation and dissolution of the world and the distinction between spirit and matter, in the terms of the Sāṃkhya-Yoga school. In the same episode Yājñavalkya tells how he obtained the white Yajus from the Sun. It is one of the sources of epic Sāṃkhya, earlier than the Sāṃkhya Kārikā.

Authorship note
An episode of the Mokṣadharma section of the Mahābhārata, which Bhīṣma tells Yudhiṣṭhira as "an ancient story". It is an epic reworking, not a text by the Vedic figure.
