Memories, Dreams, Reflections

Erinnerungen, Träume, Gedanken von C. G. Jung

C. G. Jung en Küsnacht, 1955
byCarl Gustav Jung

An inner autobiography: Jung tells his life not through outward events but through dreams, visions and inner encounters, from childhood in Klein-Hüningen to old age at Bollingen. It covers the relationship with Freud, the confrontation with the unconscious, his travels and the visions of 1944. It appeared a year after his death and is his most widely read book.

Authorship note

A work of shared authorship: Aniela Jaffé recorded and wrote most of it from conversations with Jung from 1957 onwards; Jung wrote in his own hand the chapters on childhood, youth and a few others. The family and publishers made cuts; Jung did not include it in his collected works. The interview transcripts were published in 2025.
