Posthumous work

Compendium of Hebrew Grammar

Compendium grammatices linguae hebraeae

Retrato anónimo de Spinoza (Wolfenbüttel)
byBaruch Spinoza

A grammar of biblical Hebrew written for friends who wished to read Scripture in its own language. Its peculiarity is to treat almost all words as nouns, verbs included, and to study the language as a historical and natural fact. The first part, on script, phonetics and morphology, is complete; the second, on syntax, was never written. It is inseparable from the method of biblical interpretation of the Theological-Political Treatise.
