Autobiographical Sketches

The first version of her life, written in the midst of her atheist and socialist period, without the later Theosophical reinterpretation. It is valuable precisely for that: it allows one to compare how the same author narrated her religious crisis before and after 1889. It includes the account of the Knowlton trial and the loss of custody.
Authorship note
Published by the Freethought Publishing Company, owned by Bradlaugh and Besant, in 1885; a collection of articles that had appeared in Our Corner.
