Great anthology compiled by Tolstoy between 1903 and 1906 (2nd revised edition, 1908): for each day of the year, thoughts of the Buddha, Laozi, Confucius, Marcus Aurelius, Pascal, Kant, Emerson and many others, with his own reflections and stories, arranged by themes such as faith, love, non-violence and death. Tolstoy considered it one of his most important works. Known in English as A Calendar of Wisdom.
