Sāṃkhya Kārikā (a work by Īśvarakṛṣṇa, not by Kapila)
सांख्यकारिका

Seventy-two stanzas in the āryā metre that give a complete account of classical Sāṃkhya: the three kinds of pain and the inadequacy of ordinary remedies, the means of knowledge, the pre-existence of the effect in the cause, the three qualities, the plurality of puruṣas, the evolution of the twenty-five principles, the subtle body and transmigration, and liberation through discriminating knowledge, with the famous image of the dancer who withdraws once the spectator has seen her. It was commented on by Gauḍapāda, Māṭhara, Vācaspati Miśra (Tattvakaumudī) and the Yuktidīpikā, and Paramārtha translated it into Chinese in the 6th century.

Authorship note
A related work, NOT ascribed to Kapila: it was composed by Īśvarakṛṣṇa around the 4th–5th centuries. It is recorded here because it is the oldest surviving text of classical Sāṃkhya and because it declares (stanzas 69–71) that it transmits the doctrine the sage taught to Āsuri.
