Diogenes of Sinope
Pordalus
Written work
Pordalus
Πόρδαλος

A dialogue in both ancient lists. It is the only one of which something concrete is known: according to Eubulides, quoted by Diogenes Laertius (VI 20), in it Diogenes confessed to having debased the coinage of Sinope. The testimony underlies the version that blames the philosopher himself rather than his father.

Authorship note
Lost work. Only the title survives, transmitted by Diogenes Laertius (VI 80). Sosicrates and Satyrus denied that Diogenes wrote anything, and Sotion gave a different list; authorship is therefore uncertain. It also appears in Sotion's list.
