The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World

El Dalai Lama en 2012
byThe 14th Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso)

The fruit of a week of conversations in Dharamsala in April 2015 between the Dalai Lama and the South African archbishop Desmond Tutu on the occasion of the former's eightieth birthday. The writer Douglas Abrams composed the book by combining the dialogue, a chronicle of those days and references to research on well-being. It examines the obstacles to joy—fear, anger, sadness, envy—and eight pillars for cultivating it, from the standpoint of two different religious traditions.
