Verses on the Heart Sūtra (Xinjing song)
心經頌

A series of poems commenting, phrase by phrase, on the Heart Sūtra, reinterpreting each expression in terms of the Chan doctrine of the nature of mind. It opens the Shaoshi liumen compilation.

Authorship note
A late attribution: the text does not appear in the sixth- and seventh-century sources, and scholarship (Faure, McRae, Broughton) regards it as the work of later Chan authors who used the patriarch's name to lend it authority.
