The Dharma Gate of Pacifying the Mind (Anxin famen)
安心法門

A short text, included in the Shaoshi liumen, that develops in aphoristic form the idea that the deluded mind and the awakened mind are not two and that peace is obtained not by suppressing phenomena but by understanding their nature. Its title recalls the famous legendary dialogue in which Bodhidharma 'pacifies' Huike's mind.

Authorship note
A late attribution: the text does not appear in the sixth- and seventh-century sources, and scholarship (Faure, McRae, Broughton) regards it as the work of later Chan authors who used the patriarch's name to lend it authority.
