Kali’s Child (Jeffrey J. Kripal)
Kālī’s Child: The Mystical and the Erotic in the Life and Teachings of Ramakrishna

It reads Ramakrishna’s ecstasies through Shakta Tantra and psychoanalysis, from the Bengali text of the Kathamrita and the passages Nikhilananda softened, and argues that they contain a homoerotic component. It won the American Academy of Religion’s award and met a harsh reply from the Ramakrishna Order and other scholars. It is indispensable for the state of academic debate.
