Hafez en una miniatura del siglo XVIII
byHafez

A body of poems that transmission kept adding to the *Divan* as Hafez's fame grew. Their study is an essential part of Hafez philology: they show how each age made the poet say what it wanted to hear, from the Shi'ite piety of the Safavid period to the taste of Ottoman and Indian compilers.

Authorship note

Ghazals and other pieces found in late manuscripts and non-critical editions (nineteenth-century editions reached 573–994 poems) and excluded by critical editions; Ganjoor gathers 118. One, alluding to Karbala, is considered a Safavid interpolation.
