בן פורת יוסף

Portada de la primera edición de Shivhei ha-Besht (Kopys, 1814–1815)
byBaal Shem Tov

Jacob Joseph's second book, printed in Korets in 1781: homilies on Genesis and sermons for special occasions, with many traditions introduced by "I heard from my master". Its value for the history of the Besht lies above all in the appendix, where the letter known as *Igeret ha-Kodesh*, with the account of the 1746 ascent and the Messiah's answer, was first published.
