Attar
A collection almost entirely of ghazals (he gathered the quatrains separately) with a few qasidas amounting to less than a seventh of the book, since Attar wrote no panegyrics. The qasidas set out mystical and moral themes in the manner of Sanai; one answers his *Kunuz al-hikma* line by line. The ghazals often look like love and wine songs with a liking for libertine imagery (*qalandariyat*), but express the same spiritual experiences as the masnavis, in usually coherent lines. They are direct forerunners of the ghazal of Rumi and Hafez.
