Vibhūtipāda (Chapter on Powers)
Written work
Vibhūtipāda (Chapter on Powers)
विभूतिपाद (Vibhūtipāda)

It completes the eight limbs with the three inner ones —fixation, meditation and absorption—, whose union it calls saṃyama, and describes the extraordinary knowledge and powers its application would produce: knowing past and future, the minds of others, becoming invisible. It warns that these perfections are obstacles to absorption and that detachment even from them leads to isolation.
