Masnavi of the wild gazelle

مثنوی «الا ای آهوی وحشی» (Ala ey ahu-ye vahshi)

Hafez en una miniatura del siglo XVIII
byHafez

An elegy in rhyming couplets addressed to a wild gazelle, a companion in the solitude of the desert, lamenting the loss of friends. Its melancholy tone has made it a favourite text of Persian music: the composer Hossein Alizadeh titled one of his works *Ahu-ye vahshi* after these lines.
