It organises his teaching around radical subjectivity: ultimate reality would not be an object known but the 'I' that knows, and enlightenment the recognition that the personal self is an inherited construct. It combines exposition, dialogues and quotations from mystics of various traditions, and is the book in which he outlines his 'devotional nonduality'.
