Laches

Plato

Two fathers ask the generals Laches and Nicias whether their sons should learn to fight in armour. The conversation turns to what courage is: endurance of soul, knowledge of what is to be feared and dared… no definition holds and all admit they still need to learn. A pure example of the aporetic dialogue.
