Revision of Caraka's treatise (lost)
चरकप्रतिसंस्कृत (Carakapratisaṃskṛta)

A medical work that tradition considers lost or absorbed into the Carakasaṃhitā as it survives. It underlies the third face of the "threefold Patañjali", the one who purifies the body with medicine. No independent text survives.

Authorship note
The commentator Cakrapāṇidatta (11th c.) and later texts ascribe to Patañjali a revision of Caraka's medical treatise. Meulenbeld (1999) shows that no Sanskrit source earlier than the tenth century links the physician with the grammarian; P. V. Sharma proposed that the medical Patañjalis were one or more authors distinct from the other two.
