A hundred and one conversations with Indian and foreign visitors, held mostly in the late 1960s and early 1970s in his Khetwadi flat. Through concrete questions—suffering, death, desire, the guru, practice—Nisargadatta leads again and again to the same point: the sense "I am" as the entrance and the understanding that one is nothing one perceives. The tone is direct, sometimes abrupt, and the clarity of Frydman's translation explains why it has become one of the reference texts of contemporary Advaita, read across all traditions.

Marathi conversations translated into English by Maurice Frydman, partly from recordings, and edited by Sudhakar S. Dikshit. First Chetana edition (Bombay, 1973) in two volumes; revised one-volume 2nd edition (1976) with Frydman's epilogue "Nisarga Yoga"; North American edition by The Acorn Press since 1982.
