"Mere to Giridhar Gopal" ("Mine is Giridhar Gopal")
मेरे तो गिरधर गोपाल, दूसरो न कोई

Probably the pada most associated with her name. The singer declares she has no one but Krishna, the one with the peacock-feather crown, and that for him she has lost the family's honour: she has sat with the saints, cast off public shame, watered the creeper of love with her tears. It sums up the break with lineage that defines her figure.

Authorship note
It belongs to the corpus of padas attributed to Mirabai, transmitted mainly through oral and musical channels. According to Hawley, only two poems bearing her signature appear in manuscripts earlier than the eighteenth century; the authorship of any particular pada cannot be proven.
