ספר מרבי ישראל בעל שם טוב (פירוש על תהלים קז)

Portada de la primera edición de Shivhei ha-Besht (Kopys, 1814–1815)
byBaal Shem Tov

Brief kabbalistic commentary on Psalm 107, the thanksgiving psalm of the redeemed, published more than forty years after the Besht's death. It illustrates the phenomenon, frequent in early-nineteenth-century Hasidic printing, of attributing to the founder texts that reinforced his authority. It is listed so that the reader knows it exists and why it is not ascribed to him.

Authorship note

Printed in Zhytomyr in 1804 under the Besht's name. The Jewish Encyclopedia (1902) already considered it hardly genuine, and later scholarship does not count it among his texts.
