Attribuée à Plato

«'Only the dead have seen the end of war.'»

Fausse attribution

Verdict

Elle ne figure pas dans l'œuvre de Plato

A widespread false attribution: it appears in no work of Plato. It comes from George Santayana, Soliloquies in England (1922), the soliloquy 'Tipperary'; General Douglas MacArthur popularised it as Platonic in an address at West Point (1962).
