The laboratory of all her thought: reading notes on Plato, the Upanishads and the Gita, the Pythagoreans and the Gospels, exercises in Greek and Sanskrit, problems of mathematics and physics, and fragments on gravity, grace, the void, necessity, beauty and decreation. They are the source of Gravity and Grace and the most direct way to read Weil without an editor's mediation.

Authorship note

Working notebooks from 1933–1942 (above all those of Marseille). Plon published them in three volumes (1951, 1953, 1956; revised edition 1970–1974); the critical edition forms volume VI of the Œuvres complètes (4 vols., 1994–2006). The New York and London notebooks were published separately as La Connaissance surnaturelle.
