Foundations of Buddhism
Основы буддизма
A short exposition of the Buddha's life and the central notions of his teaching—karma, rebirth, nirvana, the community—presented as a rational Buddhism without idols. The Urga edition, intended for Soviet readers, opens by stating that Gotama gave the world 'a complete teaching of communism' and draws a 'bridge' between the Buddha and Lenin; the 1930 English edition removed those formulas. It is one of the first handbooks of Buddhism written in Russian for a general public.
