The Ideal of a Universal Religion

Swami Vivekananda

A New York lecture of 1896, issued as a pamphlet in the author's lifetime, in which Vivekananda argues that a universal religion would not mean imposing a single creed but recognising that each tradition expresses one facet of the same truth. He distinguishes philosophy, mythology and ritual in every religion and defends the harmony of the four yogas.
